Want to pursue a Career in Gaming? Things you need to know
Karan Gaggar posted a blog entry in What's Happening!!
In India, most of our families have always considered GAMING as just a part of entertainment, and think that it has no more scope outside the field of fun. Choosing GAMING as a career or a source of income has always been considered as a taboo in the Indian community. Most of us have grown up stuck in front of a screen playing our favorite games from Mario to Vice City to PUBG,spending hours and hours of our time enjoying these fun games. Whilst us enjoying most of our families have always considered it a waste of time just like most of the other things we have been doing. “ Why are you wasting your time? These games are not going to bring any good to your lives! Think about your future, Are these going to bring you your daily bread? “ All of us have grown up listening to these taunts, but most of us have heard this from one year and let these words out the other ear. Seems like the time has been changing lately, and the new generation finally has a lot of answers to these taunts. YESSS! Gaming can earn, and to be honest more than just bread! In the last couple of years gaming has taken a serious boost, with competitive gaming market being valued at Billions of Dollars! What are the possible Careers in Gaming? We all know that our generation has never been very skeptical on making a choice on our futures. From travelling to being a chef or even gaming. This generation is breaking all the stereotypes and doing what they love. Game Journalist/Critic/Blogger- One thing that hasn’t changed since years is people reading the latest word about things they like. We all follow different blogs and organizations related to gaming where we read about the latest announcements and new things about the community. Then, why not become a part of it? A journalist gets to attend different gaming conferences all over the world, gets their hands on the latest gadgets and obviously the latest gaming titles. Who wouldn’t love this job, right? Well, to be honest, this is not how it really is. A person has to work really hard to be a journalist. You have to keep your eyes open all the time for all kinds of news, from the smallest game updates to the biggest gaming events like E3 ( Electronic Entertainment Expo) This is really a good choice for the future,as it even lets us be open to different areas of journalism. One can be involved in different fields such as Movie Industry,Electronics,Cars etc. Game Tester- Game tester has to be on the list of the most fun jobs in the entire world. They get to play all the latest games, and this is not limited just to the latest games, but they also get a chance to test anything new in the market of Gaming. From new peripherals to weird gadgets, they enjoy everything. Just imagine, getting your hands on the games and gadgets which the world has not even seen till now. You will be among the firsts on the planet to see the products. Again, one has to work hard to play harder. A tester should have abundant knowledge of everything related to gaming, a tester has to produce a detailed report on if the game is delivering upto the mark or not. He/She has to let the developers know if there are any bugs that have been interfering with the fun of the GAMERZ. Also, any glitches in the game have to be mentioned which can be used by Nuisance creating unsocial elements in the games for unfair means to win the game. Streamer- With the rise of the internet, it has opened hundreds of new career options for our generation and for the coming one. One of the most popular career options becoming an online streamer. The World Wide Web has multiple popular options for game streaming, YouTube and Twitch being the most popular of them all. The video streaming market has been one of the fastest growing markets in the current world valued to be more than a HUMONGOUS $20 Billions. Yes, you heard it right!! With professional streamers like Shroud from C9 Gaming and Ninja minting millions through ad revenue and other sources,Indian streamers like Carry Minati (Who’s dedicated gaming Channel is- CarryIsLive) and Soul-Mortal (The Indian PUBGM God) and many others leaving their mark on Game Streaming and encouraging literally hundreds of other dreamers to make it big just like them. Commentator- Most of us have been shut up by our parents saying “Kitna bolta he,Chup Hoja ab (Why do you talk so much, shut up for a while). Now it's time to use useless habit to make money. You may not know commentators make a really good amount of money. They also get to travel to the locations of the events. Being a commentator requires you to be fluent in the language your audience likes, also you need to be handy with key facts of the game and other statistics related to the game and the players. We have grown up listening to commentary for our favorite sports, all of us know how important it is in making a game more interesting and how it is actually a part of the game. This aspect is what makes it a viable working idea in the industry which can keep you close to the love of your life-GAMING and also make you money on the other side. Competitive Gaming- All of us know what competitive gaming, but for the few ones who don’t (What are you doing here brother? Okay, let us help you out, read our weekly blogs and you’ll belong with us) Competitive gaming is just like any other part of our lives (The truth has been spoken), number of players play against each other and try to win the game. Competitive gaming is mostly played among professional players in professional gaming leagues. Where players try to win the title which is the key to a handsome cash prize. Don’t make the mistake of thinking this cash prize as your local tournament prize. These prizes are enough for you to buy a legit SPORTS CAR, yes I am talking about all the Audis and BMWs you have always fancied driving. In the recent Fortnite World Championship, a teen gamer with the name Kyle Giersdorf won a winning amount of 3 Million USD, yes 20 Crore Rupees. As usual, big bucks do not come easy, competitive gaming as the name suggests is extremely competitive and hard to win. Imagine playing against the best players around the world. This is the level where gaming doesn’t remain to your level of gaming. One has to make strategies against their opponents, spend hours in training yourselves and making yourself better than before. If you want to see what it its like- Just check out a few videos with players like Shroud and the likes of Kenny Schrub (Hail the AWP King) GamerzByte hopes that you get what you have always dreamed of. GamerzByte also brings you opportunities like this every week. Throwback to the era which started gaming for us!
Karan Gaggar posted a blog entry in What's Happening!!
Let's take a ride back to the good old days of Cartridge Games With the bright shine of games like FIFA and Call of Duty, somewhere all of us forgot the games we actually grew up playing. Glued to our TV Screens ( For the kids of this generation, yes these games were not played on PC and only on gaming consoles attached to the only TV in the house) for hours and hours in day and night. Only left the screen when our parents forced us to and we had to leave Princess Peach who was kidnapped by the Brutal Bowser. Almost all of us used to boast our collection of cartridges and all the latest games we owned. Exchanging cartridges with our friends and enjoying new games every now and then was the best feeling ever. Not worrying about low FPS (Because there was none), but we still used to rage when stuck on that one BOSS LEVEL. Feeling nostalgic? Don’t worry we have a bag full of it ready for you ahead. The OG 9999999 in 1 Games (LOL)- Super Mario Bros (Obviously) - We undoubtedly had to start this dope list from the best of them. The SUPER MARIO BROS- Luigi and Mario were our first Game Character Love (At least for some of us). The objective of the game was to beat all the levels and free the beloved Princess Peach who was kidnapped by the Evil Tortoise Family. There were unlimited number of mods for this game, most of them were extremely weird and funny, I remember a game called Super Mario Bros- The Moon edition,in this you could literally take jumps which were so long that you could feel that Mario was flying half the level ( I am not kidding guys). FUN FACT- Mario Bros was one hard ass game back in the day ,only if we had unlimited lives so that we could travel back to the world we died in,right? Actually the developers thought of us and made a mode with unlimited. NO KIDDING, we just had to Press A ( If you had one) and Start at the same time. (Only if internet was at our aid at that time) Contra- This was one of the first Shooting Games I ever had my hands on (Tell us what was yours in the comment section guys). The actual genre for the game was Run and Gun. Both of the two Contra Commandos named Bill and Lance were hell of a ripped guys who reminded me duo of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone. The main plot of the game was to save our Planet from an invading alien attack(By Red Falcon Co.). The players are trained commandos in Guerrilla Warfares. This game gave new dimensions to controlling the players. The characters were one of the most free-style characters of the time with both the commandos having the ability to move not only their bodies but also the aim of their guns. All of us loved who they somersaulted through the air and jumping over bad guys. Getting the gun upgrade was the most bad-ass moments in the game, right? FUN FACT- In the very later sequel of contra, it was revealed that the main villain the Red Falcon Co. only came to Earth to retrieve an Alien Tech known as the Moirai Relic, which was stolen by someone on Earth. Konami’s Track & Field- This game by Konami consisted of multiple Olympics like Athletic events- 100 Meter Dash,Long Jump,Hurdle Race,Javelin Throw,Skeet Shooting,Triple Jump,Archery and High Jump. This was one of the few games, which were the simplest to play but still we had no idea of what we did to win. WE JUST WANTED TO WIN. This game taught us how to press and spam buttons as fast as we could. I guess my controllers went bad because of these games (LOL). For me the hardest of these eight games were Javelin throw and Long Jump, not because it required something hard, but because I was dumb and coudn’t time my throws and jumps. Also,I enjoyed the games background audio like anything,it was just like an 8-bit music, but back then all of us were just enjoying everything, didn’t we? Here check out- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIjDpOFensY FUN FACT- Track & Field became an Arcade Favorite and Konami arranged championships and the national winners were given the chance to go to the 1984 Olympics. Duck Hunt Talking about the T&F Music, how can we forget the cheering music of Duck Hunt guys. This game was our Go-To game when we were frustrated, shooting those ducks down and the happy dog clenching them (Okay, too dramatic). What we sometimes enjoyed more than the game itself was the feeling of handling a working pistol in our hand ( It did work as Video Game Gun Bro),but most of us were always confused how did it even work,I did. To date ,Duck Hunt (Also Clay Shooting) is one of the games I miss the most. I miss the use of Zapper Gun ( You need a CRT TV to use the zapper, and HTC Vive are a little too expensive.) Fun Fact- How often did you shut up your sibling saying there was no multiplayer in Duck Hunt? Not your fault, not many of us knew this, but the second player could actually control the duck in the game. Time to confess? Sonic the Hedgehog- Who wouldn't love a super fast hedgehog? We loved him.Sonic could run at Sonic speeds throughout the levels. For me,the main task was not to complete any level, but I found collection a hundred Gold Rings to get an extra life more fun. GAMERZ are weird and we all know it. Rage moments when we collided with an enemy and lost our rings. The main plot of the game was to stop Dr. Ivo Robotnik also known as Dr. Eggman from collecting all the emeralds and harnessing the powers from all of them( Just like the Avengers trying to stop Thanos from collecting all of the Infinity Stones guys). Sonic also frees captured animals from Earth which are caged by the evil doctor. FUN FACT- Sonic, The Hedgehog himself did not had any super powers but was super fast because of the “Power Sneakers” he used to wear. For us at GamerzByte, these were some of the g(OLD) games which will always have a part of our hearts. What are yours? Mention them in the comment box and we will write up about them soon. Battle Royale- The Genre that is changing gaming.
Karan Gaggar posted a blog entry in What's Happening!!
Meaning of Battle Royal(e)- Battle Royale is one of the most common terms in gaming community these days. Even people with no relation to gaming whatsoever have started understanding this term pretty well, but this term has not just emerged in the past few years. It has been in use since medieval times. Battle Royale simply means what you have understood by the games in the recent times. It is a combat among a large number of fighters with equal opportunities, where they fight against each other, until in the end only one combatant is standing alive, who becomes the WINNER. History of Battle Royale Gaming- Even before the gaming genre developed, a similar concept has been in use since the year 1988, when the first ever WWE ROYAL RUMBLE event was produced. Though there were multiple events in this game. Royal Rumble which was broadcasted on the USA network, crossed all landmarks of popularity back in the day, in such a way that since 1988 there has been no year in which the event hasn’t been organized Though PUBG gave the genre “Battle Royale” a huge kickstart, it wasn’t the first game to have this wildly popular mode in it, but interestingly the game that first birthed the genre and PUBG have an extremely strange connection. Let’s get into this loot box of information. Evolution of Battle Royale H1Z1- The original game H1Z1 gained its popularity because of it’s gameplay and the concept, but the success of the game skyrocketed when, “Brendan PlayerUnknown Grenne” developed a battle royale mod for the game and naming it “King of the Hill”.Yes, you read the name correct, “PlayerUnknown”. This was the time when the genre started gaining eyes from the gaming community, which not only included players but also the humongous developer “Sony”,who invited the father of the genre to develop a dedicated Battle Royale game. Though he didn’t work with Sony for very long. 2. PlayerUnknown’s BattleGrounds- This is where the connection between H1Z1’s battle royale mod King of the Hill and PUBG gets clearer. After leaving Sony, Brendan PlayerUnknown Grenne, was invited by the South Korean gaming giant ,Krafton to develop his own game. PUBG which was developed under Bluehole is a subsidiary of Krafton.Bluehole not only devloped the vision of Brendan, they also gave the game his name, “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” . The game was finally released in the year 2017, and became the Steam Game of the Year,2018. 3. Fortnite- With PUBG’s start in conquering the gaming world,Fortnite:Save the World, which was developed by Epic Games, also made the entry to the Soon-Going-to-explode Battle Royale industry with its own Fortnite:Battle Royale. While PUBG had to be bought, Epic Games made Fortnite:Battle Royale a free to download game. The american game developers focused on making their game as bug free as they could. Soon, as expected this game too catapulted itself among gamers around the world, with getting itself mentioned in the video with the most dislikes in the history of YouTube- YouTube Rewind- 2018 and the Marvel Saga Avengers: Endgame 3. Blast of Battle Royale Games- After PUBG and Fortnite became the epitome of fame and gains, there were back to back releases of new battle royale games in the market. Apex Legends,Garena Free Fire,Storm etc, as well as older games started adding Battle Royale as a new mode. Counter Strike : Global Offensive is one of the most popular games with a similar addition known as Danger zone and COD: Black Ops 4. Course of Action- Spawning/Dropping- A large number of players ,usually a 100 player get into the game in the form of Solo,Duo or pairing up as a Squad of four.Different games have different process of getting into the game. Most games such as PUBG,Fortnite and COD: Black Ops IV give the players a chance to drop and parachute to their desired locations from a plane of which the flight path is randomly decided by the game. 2. Looting/Acquiring Weapons- After getting to a location, players have to rush to houses and other locations to acquire weapons, helmets, protective vests and other items such as consumables like Energy Drinks and First-aids There are a wide variety of weapons available in the games with different categories like SMGs,Pistols and most importantly AR Guns and Sniper Rifles. Players also get a chance to collect attachments to these guns, which include Suppressors, Flash Hiders,Scopes etc. 3. Special Loot- Players hunt for special loot packages or drops as the gameplay proceeds. These packages contain OP or Overpowered weapons or other special items which are highly valuable in the games. These packages appear in different manners, but air drops are most popular in recent Battle Royale games. 4. End Zones- As the game progresses, the playzone for the players starts to contract throughout the map, forcing players in different areas to come closer. The play zone can start moving to any part of the map according to the games’ algorithm. If the players don’t get into the PlayZone, they start losing their health points leading to a Game Over, hence closing all the players into a smaller area as the game proceeds. 5. The Win- As the zone gets smaller and smaller, the number of living contestants start reducing, and in the end, as all the contestants kill each other, only the last surviving player or players(If it is a team game) . In the end, we can easily conclude that Battle Royales have been on the top of Gaming Industry and Community in the past two years, and we can see how it is even evolving further in itself. We have enough reasons to believe that Battle Royale has a tremendous market in the coming years.Till then lets enjoy our knocks, kills and most importantly our revivals. GamerzByte India is an eSports Entertainment Co., dealing in managing and organizing electronic gaming events, contests and/or tournaments across India.
